Broadway Ticket Protection Coverage

Synopsis of Complaint:

The Consumer purchased tickets to a Broadway play, along with ticket protection insurance, with his credit card. The attendees contracted COVID-19 just days prior to the event and could not attend.

A claim was submitted and subsequently denied by the Insurer.

Review by GIO:

GIO reviewed the situation and confirmed with the Consumer that epidemics or pandemics were exclusions of coverage. Other illnesses would be covered subject to examination by a physician within 48 hours of the cancellation.

Resolution:

GIO communicated the exclusions of the policy to the consumer who was able to understand the rationale for the denial of the coverage.
